PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE, TRUSS

Washington Street Bridge, Golden Colorado:  Peer design review on behalf of the bridge designer; construction, erection engineering and supervision on behalf of the installation contractor.

Rigging design employed unique method due to special design features of the bridge truss members:  tension members were slender rods that could not be placed in compression during the lift.

Following rigging operations, and in accordance with CDOT Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, Section 509.27 “Erection of Steel Structures”, written authorization to reopen traffic on the highway was issued by L. J. Mott, PE.
