A heavily loaded concrete column in a dairy facility in New Mexico, USA, experienced serious deterioration due to proximity to brine based refrigeration equipment. The load carrying capacity of the column was a concern to the owner. In 2009, GES Tech Group was retained to evaluate the potentially dangerous condition of the column and to recommend a repair procedure that would not interrupt plant operations since the area in question was subject to a high level of sanitation and plant production could not be stopped during repair installation.
