Warm Climate Applications

Insulated Concrete Forms are also applicable to warm tropical climates like Florida.  In 2024, GES Tech Group designed and supervised the construction of a 3 bed room home with four inch concrete forms and a total of five inches of EPS insulation, providing significant thermal inertia and an effective R25 wall system.  Other advantages include resistance to termite damage since the structural elements do not represent a food source.

Particular advantages are gained in terms of minimum air infiltration and no issues with vapor barriers since the walls are air tight.  Insulation was applied in the attic at an R38 level.  Heating and cooling was provided by a 2 ton heat pump.

Steel roof trusses and interior framing were specified, along with a standing seam steel roof system, in order to minimize wood products and to provide resistance to wind load.
