Kansas Drag Strip Fail

A recently constructed drag strip located in Kansas was found to have serious surface concrete deterioration and significant defects in surface flatness.  In 2023-2025, GES Tech Group joined a team of experts retained by the owners to evaluate the root causes of these defects.  Investigations revealed problems with concrete mix design, curing, and placement.  The required track flatness of plus/minus 1/4 inch in 12 feet of track was also exceeded.  Attempts to correct the deviations from required flatness were not successful.  Legal action was initiated that resulted in numerous mediation sessions. Ultimately, the track was demolished and replaced in 2026.
