From 2020 through 2025, GES Tech Group provided seismic, structural and foundation engineering for the Valve House at the base of the Chimney Hollow Dam near Denver, Colorado. GES Tech Group was responsible for specifying seismic loading parameters, anchorage specifications and foundation bases for heavy valves from 20″ to 96″ in diameter.
Special considerations included foundations and special valve bases that supported gravity loads, and restrained the valves laterally for inertial seismic responses, but allowed limited freedom of moment longitudinally in response to varying dynamic system pressures.
